Posted in Bike Religion Packages, Road Cycling on March 17, 2010 by REV Cycling Directeur Sportif

Bike Religion is proud to announce the creation of two new road packages.  We have had so much success with our triathlon packages that we decided to create two entry level road packages.  The response to our Competitor ads displaying our triathlon packages have brought athletes in from our cold and rainy weather to get their bike and gear before the start of the triathlon season.  The B14 Tri package has been so successful that Felt Bicycles is running VERY low on bikes and may sell out before the end of spring.  The B16 Tri package still has plenty of numbers and should be fine until summer.

Newport Beach Cycling Safety

For those unaware, I recently became a member of the Newport Beach Cycling Safety Committee. We meet on a regular basis to talk about issues facing the cyclist of the greater Newport Beach area.

On Monday afternoon we had one of the last meetings of the Newport Beach Cycling Safety Committee.  The committee has been formed to come up with ideas to make cycling safer in the Newport Beach area.  The committee has met over many months and the final report to the Newport Beach City Council is almost complete.  There are some great ideas that have been put forward in the report.

Follow closely for more updates, we want the city to act on our report and hopefully put in place many or all of our recommendations. We may need your support.

Let me know if you have any suggestions for our cycling community.

Cannondale Training Today

Posted in Events on March 3, 2010 by REV Cycling Directeur Sportif

Our Cannondale rep, Steve Kwait, came to our shop and provided a clinic today.  Steve went through the mountain, road and triathlon line of bikes.  There were a couple highlights of the presentation.  One was the tear down of the Lefty fork.  We removed the cartridge and did a mock servicing of it.  It was surprising to me how simple the fork was to service in the field.   The description of the internals is that it is a “square peg in a square hole”.  When we removed the boot from the lower end of the shock the four flat sides or bearing races were exposed.  The Lefty fork is so stiff because there are four flat sides and 22 needle bearings between the inner square “peg” and the outer square “hole”.

The other highlight was weighing Steve’s Flash Carbon hardtail mountain bike at 18lbs!  You can set yours up even lighter at Bike Religion!!
